I didn't create Cheeky Monkey to build a business, it was to make a statement that change could be delivered in a better way. I thought we would attract a niche following, we didn't, we had a corporate following from day one. In 2004 companies didn't have crazy names like "Cheeky Monkey" in fact, clients (and a particular PR company) begged me to change the name. They didn't get it; it was the ultimate filtering process, if you didn't like the name, you wouldn't like working with us.
Cheeky Monkey Timeline
Way of the Monkey
The only thing unique about Cheeky Monkey was its direct honesty with a smile. Delivering change is complicated and people tend to make it more complicated than it needs to be because they aren't honest. When people are honest it tends to be hurtful. We delivered change with honesty you could trust, that wasn't going to hurt you (you might not like it) we would be there to make sure it ended well. This is because we cared. Cared about the business and the people in equal measures.
Artificial intelligence is transforming how we live and work, faster than most of us can process. The real challenge now isn’t how we use it, but how we stay conscious while we do. If we don’t, we risk building systems that automate without thinking, stripping out the very awareness that makes us human.
In Your Move: The Human Reset, transformation consultant and founder of Cheeky Monkey, Nina Dar, offers a bold, positive guide to thriving with AI, not competing with it. Through 100 short coaching moments, she shows how to keep intelligent, conscious decision-making at the heart of everything we build, create, and lead.
“We really got under the skin of a number of specific issues that have been holding me back. Nina held me to account while supporting me to find solutions.”
