Employee led ESG strategies will change the world

Employee led ESG strategies will change the world

Since 2004 I've seen, and been part of, a lot of corporate change. With the benefit of hindsight, we now know the long-term consequences of that change. Things we may have thought were ok, have proved to be damaging and have unintended consequences. Some of it was brilliant. We don't have time to gamble on the future changes being hopefully good, we need to make sure change is positive and regenerative

A solar farm at what cost?

A solar farm at what cost?

Solar farms—just like regular farms—cover large swaths of land, requiring between 3.5 to 16.5 acres per MW of generating capacity. The largest solar plant in the world, the 648 MW Kamuthi facility in Tamil Nadu, India, covers ten square kilometers. But it will be dwarfed by the 3,450 MW facility under construction on China’s Tibetan Plateau, which will span 298 square kilometers when completed. Building these large plants requires fundamentally changing how the land they sit on is used, which—without careful planning—could have negative impacts on the environment and local communities that could potentially lead to conflict (Newsecuritybeat)

Could you win Gold as a corporate Olympian?

Could you win Gold as a corporate Olympian?

I can spend hours daydreaming about being an Olympian, remembering what it was like to throw a javelin (teachers running for cover), perfect a Fosbury Flop (set at a record 3m), knock every single hurdle down and break your friend's foot with your best shotput.

What happens when you aren’t in the majority?

What happens when you aren’t in the majority?

June 24th 2016 will go down in history as the day when slightly over half the UK population voted to leave the European Union in a misguided attempt to take back what the Brexiters sold them as some sort of Holy Grail of Soverignty and Control. The other (almost) half, were not fooled. Europe will be divided, the UK already is. What can we do to work towards a more integrated world?

Don’t whip up hatred or division

Don’t whip up hatred or division

The recent murder of Jo Cox and the divisions that the Brexiters and the Remainers are creating are bringing about a nastiness I didn't think was possible in our society and it's making me very sad.

People do Business with People

People do Business with People

What is a personal brand, why did I decide I needed to have one and how did I go about creating one? I realised that having a company that mainly provides one service isn't nearly enough to tell people about who I am & all the things I do, so a personal branding journey began.

Leadership Talk for Gen Z and Millenials

I'm a regular contributor to the Uprising Leadership Programme in Manchester. This workshop was to encourage some divergent thinking about what it is to be a good leader today. The session was very interactive which may not come across that well on the slides.

Social Product Lifecycle Management (PLM)

Social Product Lifecycle Management (PLM)

As small businesses develop and grow into big businesses, the ability to maintain the social intimacy of a small business becomes much harder. Having a social approach with PLM can shorten the distances between everyone in the company. We just have to take a leaf from social media's book to make it happen.
